I feel like this brief sequence exemplifies Knights of Sidonia’s biggest strength when it comes to playing with ham-fisted shonen garbage cliche stuff. This scene’s both comic and surreal; it looks like Tanikaze, the main character, practically fucking dies from instigating this cliched scenario. Like, there’s something horrific about that crumpled body at the end there and it’s just the right amount of off for me.
It’s wonderful.
